With an actual graphics card! I can run the game on high graphics settings now! The bad news Honestly, this game and its shitty programming are such a hassle to work around sometimes that I'm not sure why I still bother.
Post by InsanityPrelude » Wed Aug 29, am Oh, forgot to add in the original post: I'm running fullscreen, but not at my native resolution things are too dang small in x - that wouldn't prevent vsync from working, would it? I did the stuff to get the game to recognize my card. Most are 60 Hz, so 60 fps is the target, some can run higher.
Also set explicitly to 60 or the actual refresh rate , this one is odd because it has to be running in the background in order to be effective. It can be set to launch with Windows. The resources it uses are next to nothing, though. I use this myself though because my card is AMD, not Nvidia, and a third party tool was indeed needed. Ignore anything that shows up elsewhere like in the upper right corner if you have no ad blocker, those tend to be rogue adware campaigns.
Post by sittingbear » Wed Aug 29, pm If you have Win 10 are you running the Sims 3 in compatibility mode? That stops Vsync from working.
Its a pain when you have dual graphics but especially when one of your cards is intel. IMHO that fix is not necessary. If you have the set to use the card not sure how it works for AMD , the game should play fine. It will set all your settings to the lowest since it doesn't know the card but you can then manually change that and the game should run fine.
So do you just have the issue that the settings are at it's lowest or do you have actual issues with the game itself if you set them to the highest or play around in the game options? I don't work or have any association with EA. Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so. Crin the game will actually recognize the intel card and read card 1 match 1. The sgr files will accept the intel card. Even if they change their AMD control panel the sgr file will still read intel.
Your more tecky than I am but I would think they might have to change the sgr file if the game is accepting the intel card??! Crin: I have not played much on this computer but I did not run into any graphical issues and I changed the settings to higher with no difficulties. The issue being that sims is using the integrated graphics which I know is bad for the computer in the long run and is disapointing when there is an AMD graphics card which it should be using.
Sorry I should have posted that earlier. I don't know if it makes a dfference or All I know is several people are having your same issue and I have no idea how to fix it.
With the dual AMD I did not run into your issue. Glad you got it working!!! I have windows 8 and only have a dedicated Nvidia card I just put vsync on and fps stays steady as 60 and get Nvidia to accept teh TS3W file.
