Wingate uses synchronous distance learning to connect its two campuses, allowing faculty and students to interact in real time regardless of location. Currently, Wingate has 40 students enrolled in didactic year at the Wingate campus and 15 students enrolled at the Hendersonville campus. Didactic Year The primary goal during the didactic year is to develop a core knowledge of clinical and biomedical sciences that students will be able to apply to decision-making in clinical practice.

Wingate achieves this goal through traditional classroom lectures combined with small group, problem-based learning activities. This practice will support their ability to serve as a member of a healthcare team and remain actively engaged in continuing their personal development and education according to evolving health care trends. The Wingate Physician Assistant program began in and expanded to the Hendersonville campus in Over the past twelve years, the class size in the Wingate PA program has grown from 18 students in the class of to 54 students in the class of This year, we celebrate the tenth class to graduate from the Wingate campus! Wingate students spend their first year learning didactic material then head to clinical rotations in a variety of clinical specialties.

The first year of the month program is comprised of learning didactic material, followed by clinical rotations in various specialties for the remainder of the program. The main campus is in Wingate, NC, which is just outside of Charlotte, providing students access to great medical facilities.
